Mr Osman Küçükşahin (80) and Mrs Ümmü Yılmaz (85) had to espouse and make their relationship heard by the ‘world’ after a gossip about their ‘secret affair’ spread rapidly in the village…

The two lovers, grandfather-of-10 and father-of-5, and grandmother-of-5 and mother-of-5, was advised by Rafik Akça, the Headman of Gazipaşa town’s Çörüş village of Antalya, to get formally married after a gossip spread amongst villagers about their secret relationship. The two are now formally a couple after a recent solemnization of marriage.

“I have married twice before, but lost each of my wives one after another. Ümmü has a similar fate with mine, and we decided to share the remaining time of our lives. When one is young, they are able to look after themselves, but we are now old and we can take care of each other,” said Mr Küçükşahin to DHA.

“My husband died 6 years ago, and my neighbour Osman and I both had become widows. Instead of living alone after our these ages, we decided to get married and live together,” said Mrs Yılmaz, who also got married twice and lost both husbands each time, and found her third love at 85.
